The two-floor program included the renovation of patient preparation suites, electrophysiology laboratories for performing catheter-based procedures, device implantations, diagnostic studies with stereotaxic equipment and shielding requirements, research and virology labs, nurses offices, screening rooms, and reception area. The program also included extensive MEPS upgrades and infrastructure work, including the build-out of multiple MER closets, new chillers, air handlers, and exhaust. All work required extensive protection, negative air, and careful phasing to ensure uninterrupted services to adjacent departments and medical offices. Mount Sinai

Phase I required the construction of temporary science laboratories to accommodate programming requirements while the new labs were under construction. Phase II of the project included the gut-renovation of existing lab spaces, including new laboratory millwork, gas and water hookups, showers, and emergency eyewash areas. In addition, the laboratories were outfitted with new exteriors windows and casings. Protection and safety programs were designed to accommodate working in an occupied setting, and all work was coordinated with school officials to minimize disruptions to ongoing school operations. The 9th floor research facility, untouched for 30 years and damaged by floods, was overhauled. They also improved the 15th floor lobby and corridors, along with the mechanical infrastructure. The renovation aimed to enhance research capabilities in infectious diseases and immunology, with an open laboratory design promoting collaboration. The project included new laboratory facilities, updated finishes, and improved mechanical systems. Columbia University will benefit from the upgraded space as it focuses on immune system research for various diseases and experiences growth in cancer therapy and transplantation programs. Columbia

    Healthcare/Life Sciences Maimonides Cancer Center Project Info Project Info Maimonides Cancer Center Cauldwell Wingate Company was hired as the Construction Manager for this state-of-the-art health care assignment. The project consisted of a seven phase, three-floor interior renovation in occupied conditions as well as an underground building extension for 4 vaults, including the installation of three new linear accelerators. The interior portion of the project included a PET/CT room installation, and suites for Medical and Surgical Oncology, Breast Center, and infusion and Pediatric Oncology. In addition, a new executive office center was created. A major lobby renovation was designed with a three-story glass clearstory feature wall. Cauldwell Wingate was responsible for preparing multiple budgets and schedules throughout the preconstruction process as well as oversight responsibility for the construction. Mr. Levy has over 14 years of experience in the construction industry and received a Bachelors in History from Florida State University, and a Construction Management Certificate from New York University. His primary experience is in residential buildings. Spending a portion of his career in Toronto, ON, David gained valuable experience in complete high rise façade recladding along with complex logistics for full scale construction.
